Honoring the memory of Roland "Buddy" Huthmaker.

My studio has had the privilege of having a connection with Huthmaker Violins for many years. The Huthmaker family has every characteristic of heroes in our community of string teachers. They are dedicated, give a lot, and are ALWAYS looking for ways to contribute to the growth of music teachers. This week, their patriarch, Roland "Buddy" Huthmaker has made his transition to become an ancestor. I feel so fortunate to have met and enjoyed Roland's conversation, humor and deep knowledge of anything related to string instruments. But I feel specially blessed, and grateful, for his kindness towards my students and the wonderful presentations he used to make when my violin studio used to take a "field trip" to his store. The students, parents and myself always marveled when he played an array of violin types and educated all of us on the beauty of music making. The highlight and delight of his presentations for all of us was always the "Clown" violin, which would "explode" while he was playing. The Huthmakers probably owns one of the few copies of such instrument. Despite not being an assiduous visitor to the store, the memories I carry from the times I visited are indelible and unforgettable.

Thanks Roland for leaving such a fun and wonderful memory in my life. You will be sorely missed in our community. Cheers to you well-served life!
